Hot Mess with JD Twitch (Optimo)

11 April 2015

~~~ YO HOMO! ~~~
Optimo’s JD Twitch joins us again for what is becoming an annual highlight of the HOT MESS calendar. We asked him why he likes playing at the club and this is what he said:
“Apart from the fact it’s an honour to be asked to play at Hot Mess, I enjoy playing there because it is one of very few club nights in Glasgow that is doing something different and that has built a true sense of community around it. It isn’t about booking big names guests to pull people in but through hard work and simply playing great music that Simon truly believes in, it has become one of the most important and vital club nights in Glasgow and has inspired others to follow suit.
I learnt about dance music and djing in gay clubs as they used to be at the cutting edge of what club music was about, but for many years I feel they lost their way musically, at least in this city, but Hot Mess has changed that and hopefully now there is no going back.”
Please arrive early if you want to get in – doors open at 10pm.
Entry: £8
C Duncan is playing at The Poetry Club / 3rd April / Doors 9pm
“The pieces that make up his forthcoming debut LP are formed from lush choral harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, textured like contemporary dreampop and all recorded at home in Glasgow on his bedroom studio setup, gradually built up one layer and one instrument at a time! The results of this methodical and isolationist recording process give us charming lo-fi folk with the harmonic width of choral composition, the sweetness of barbershop and the rough eloquence that has so readily soundtracked Glasgow over the past decades.”
Saturday 28th March
Happy to announce the second So Low night with the first ever Scottish live performance by the legendary Colin Potter. NO ENTRY AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Please note, Mr. Potter will be on at 11pm. So Low is not about trying to fill a club and make £s, but rather being somewhere people who want to hear certain music can gather and feel comfortable. We will revert to a lower entry price if there is a third So Low without a guest performance. We reserve the right to refuse admission.
